In Time
What Makes a Sunset
The Clouds Will Soon Roll By
From the long lost radio series ‘Music About Town’ with Steve Race
Old Devil Moon
It Can’t Be Wrong
I’ve Got You Under My Skin
Another recent discovery! These experimental stereo recordings were made in 1958 and were found last year gathering dust in a cupboard!
You Make Me Feel So Young
From a recently recovered recording from ‘Saturday Club’
The Heart Of A Man
I Know
Twixt Twelve and Twenty
Three tracks recorded for a ‘Top Pop Club’ 10” LP from 1959
Fare The Well My Pretty Maid
From Matt’s second EMI session featuring Tommy Watt as arranger/conductor.
No One Will Ever Know (Piano Version)
Easier Said Than Done
There Are No Words For Love (Piano Version)
In 1961 George Martin attempted to record a laid back album with Matt and a trio led Johnnie Spence. This idea was aborted after one session. Of the six tracks recorded, three were issued on The Rare Monro in 2006. This is the other three discovered during research for Special Reserve.
Love Is The Same Anywhere (Alternate Arrangement)
Matt had already recorded this track as an album track and potential (but ultimately cancelled) single. Between the last session for the album and its release George Martin asked for and alternative arrangement to be made. This was recorded but never used – until now.
Bill Bailey
A BBC recording from the Winifred Atwell Piano Party show in 1962
A Few Tender Words
A completely unheard song from 1962. One take rehearsed and recorded in 25 minutes but left on the shelf.
All My Loving (Early Version)
Recorded two months before the released version and only surviving as a mono mix down this recording was rejected as George wanted some changes made to the arrangement. Matt’s performance is also quite different.
Once In Every Long And Lonely While (Early Version)
Matt first recorded this song in 1963 but returned to the song two years later when it was released on the ‘I Have Dreamed’ album. This is the earlier recording which starts with Matt singing unaccompanied.
Ten Out Of Ten (Unedited)
Choose (Unedited)
Beautiful Beautiful (Unedited)
Three tracks from the Song For Europe EP issued in unedited form for the first time.
Let’s Find An Island
First release for a 1965 recording from the musical ‘Our Man Crichton’
The World I Used To Know
A previously unheard master from the Capitol years that was almost issued on the LP ‘This is the Life’
Pretty Polly (Soundtrack Version)
The rare alternate version from the original soundtrack, only previously issued on a rare album in the USA.
Maria (Spanish)
A fantastic vocal performance left unissued for technical reasons. Whilst even modern remastering can’t completely solve this, the performance was just too good to leave on the shelf
If You Go
Lovin’ You Again
If You Go Away
English language versions of song only previously available in Spanish.
Two People (Film Version)
The first release for the short version of this song as used in the titles of ‘Satan’s Harvest’.
Por Primera Vez (For Once In My Life)
One of the many songs Matt recorded for potential release on his second Spanish album. This has only previously seen release on an Argentinean CD.
Time To Go
Oh My Child
Two previously unheard songs that were recorded in 1971 but not mixed at the time.
Didn’t We (Early Version)
How Can I Live Without Your Love
An alternative arrangement and a completely unreleased song from the ‘For The Present’ sessions.
One Last Try
This is the only song on this set that was never fully completed. Although these are rough vocals, they are Matt Monro rough vocals!
You Came Along From Out Of Nowhere
I Apologise
The Folks Who Live On The Hill
Your Driving Me Crazy/The Song Is You

What Is This Thing Called Love
