Roy Leslie
Guest Artist: “The
Matt Sings Monro Tour”
Roy Leslie is a young man with a stunning
voice. He is fast becoming noted for his work and
is blessed with a distinct and unique gift. He has
an extensive vocal range, enabling him to sing a diverse
spectrum of song.
Roy’s competence and immaculate
presentation on the stage, is that of a mature, accomplished
performer belying his real age. His execution is outstanding;
he sings from the heart and has the rare ability to
entertain audiences of all ages.
He was born on 19th March 1979 to
Graham & Wendy Leslie and grew up on the Isle
of Sheppey in Kent. He has two younger brothers, Charlie
& Dale and a twin brother called Marty.
Roy first discovered his gift as a
singer at the tender age of thirteen and began to
experiment with different music styles. His inspiration
came from renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra,
Sammy Davis Jnr, Elvis Presley and more recently Lionel
Ritchie. His ability is self-taught and he has been
able to develop his range, allowing him to sing any
style of song.
At the age of 16, Roy began to enter
talent contests, winning 19 competitions in a row.
This extraordinary feat gave him the status of an
accomplished amateur singer.
He was asked to sing with Michael
Barrymore on his show “My Kind of People”
and the following year performed for Prince Charles.
His dreams were fast becoming a reality and with the
recent flush of success he decided to turn professional.
He created his own one-man-show, which
includes a varied collection of works appealing to
broad audiences. Musically he performs Motown, Soul,
Blues, Swing and Rock and Roll and a great tribute
to the Rat Pack.
For five years he worked the circuits
in pubs and clubs. In 1998 he took his show abroad
and performed seasons in La Manga, Benidorm, Tenerife
and the Costa del Sol. Barbados immediately embraced
him airing his album on the radio every week.
There are several record companies
vying for his signature and once signed feels it will
give him the freedom to express his unique talent
as both a singer and songwriter.
“Matt Sings Monro” is
a collective collaboration that Matt and Roy have
worked on for over a year having become friends through
the business. The success of the show has seen demand
grow into a 40 date British Concert tour.
Now half way through the tour he feels
the experience has been invaluable. Both Matt Jnr
and Roy come down to the foyer after each show to
meet the fans and the response has been fabulous.
To coincide with the tour Roy has
released a brand new CD “Maybe This Time”
which is available from his website www.royleslie.com.
It includes such tracks as:
Maybe This Time Clementine
Mac The Knife Fly Me To The Moon
Let There Be Love It Had To Be You
